I haven't posted much on these boards lately, however I do visit them quite often. I figured I would bring this up with the community to see how much interest there actually is or would be for a Pre-Renaissance style PvP Deathmatch Server. To make a long story short without revealing too many details, basically the server would work like this...
- Upon login, you select your PvP class, similar to selecting your class in today's modern FPS games such as Modern Warfare 2, etc...
- You will be assigned a team at random or have the ability to select members of your team.
- Various game types would require different team sizes and or rulesets restricting the use of certain items, skills, or even including handicaps.
- All stats of arranged matches would be tracked online directly to the server's website with global rankings and other various forms of statistical information.
Here is an example of something that could be done as shown by Bungie's player tracking for Halo 3...
- The matches would be ranked and a leveling system would be integrated with each user in order to create a balanced "matchmaking" system which would allow for users to be matched up against users with a similar rank.
Obviously these are bare bone ideas I have been thinking of for some time, and the logistics of the server would contain far more features and functions. I'm making this thread to see if there are any serious developers who would event attempt something like this. I've seen many deathmatch servers, and my plans for something like this go far beyond anything I have witnessed.
What does ConnectUO think? Is there an interest for something like this?
